Milange Municipal Council and the community development organisation Esperança Para Novo Rebento (ESPANOR) are coming together to build 346 houses for young people, within the scope of a ‘social housing’ project launched on Wednesday morning in the municipal town in Zambézia province.
The houses will be built in stages, starting this year with the first 16-unit condominium.
The memorandum of understanding formalising the ‘Habitação Social’ project was signed by Milange mayor Felisberto Mvua and the president of the ESPANOR association, João Herbate, in the presence of 50 young people.
Potential beneficiaries can apply by submitting a 10-year amortisation plan to pay for the houses, which each cost less than a million meticais [around US$15,651 at current exchange rates].
