The municipality of Matola-Rio, in Boane district, Maputo province, has decided to exempt local companies from paying municipal taxes, with the aim of boosting economic recovery after the wave of looting and destruction recorded a few months ago.
The President of the Municipal Council of Matola-Rio, Abdul Gafur, who announced the measure, added that other parallel initiatives to boost the local economy were underway.
According to Abdul Gafur, foreign investors who had abandoned their investments following the recent violence are now resuming their activities.
