The district of Marromeu, in Sofala, is still without electricity, eight days after the passage of Tropical Storm Ana, which destroyed electrical infrastructure.
The effects of the lack of electricity are clearly visible, especially in the commercial and small-scale milling sectors. It had also meant that evening classes did not start.
Some public institutions, such as the District Health Centre, have electricity supplied by two generator sets.
On the ground, work to put an end to the blackout is proceeding at full speed.
Marromeu administrator Henriqueta do Rosário said that damage to electrical infrastructure caused by the tropical storm was severe, hence the delay in the resumption of supply.
