Mozambique: Maputo not affected by diesel spill in Goba line, Eswatini side – ARA Sul | Carta

The spilling of unspecified quantities of diesel fuel into the Umbeluzi River, following the derailment of wagons on the Goba line in Eswatini, will not affect water consumption in the Greater Maputo region, Carta de Moçambique reports.
“The Pequenos Libombos dam is not discharging [water], and the water that supplies the Umbeluzi Water Treatment Plant comes from the Movene River and is free of any contamination,” a statement from the Regional Administration of Águas-Sul reads.
Movene has high hydro-metric levels, which will allow monitoring and containment at the Pequenos Libombos dam.
