The city of Maputo is hosting, from Wednesday to Friday, an international symposium on the theme “Mobilising Collective Intelligence to Counter and Prevent Violent Extremism and Terrorism in Africa – African Solutions for African Problems”.
The event is organised by the Civil Society Support Mechanism Foundation (MASC) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
Various governmental and inter-governmental actors, civil society organisations, grassroots organisations and the private sector are taking part in the event.
The symposium, held at the Montebelo Indy Maputo Congress, aims to discuss recent developments in the threat of violent extremism in Africa in its various dimensions.
The symposium will also bring together national and international centres for the fight against terrorism, research institutions and other players, to share experiences and lessons learned in combating and preventing violent extremism.
