Mozambique: Maputo Council says concession procedures for sea beaches are underway

Maputo Municipal Council (CMM) is working on the framework for the concessioning of beaches located in its geographical territory.
“In this sense, the Municipality held a coordination meeting with different interested parties on Wednesday, January 29, with a view to presenting the concession project,” a CMM press release reads.

Councillor for Economic Activities and Tourism, Alexandre Muianga, said that the CMM had already established “the conditions to move forward immediately with the concession of the beaches”.
The initiative is part of the municipality’s strategy for the protection, management and use of its coast and beaches, and aims to organize the use of spaces and improve their management, particularly for sun and beach tourism, while also covering activities in other tourism segments.
