The group of four unidentified individuals who kidnapped Mozambican businessman, Manish Cantilal ten days ago in Maputo’s Alto-Maé neighbourhood have not yet made contact with the victim’s family.
A source close to the victim told ‘Carta de Moçambique’ that neither the victim’s family nor his associates have yet received a ransom demand.
Four kidnappers, armed with a pistol, intercepted Manish Cantilal moments after he parked in the garage at his residence and violently shoved him inside another vehicle, video surveillance shows.
The footage has been handed over to the police, in the hope that it might furnish clues.
In 2014, Cantilal himself was arrested on suspicion of involvement in kidnappings in the cities of Maputo and Matola, only to be released on bail about a month later. Manish Cantilal is a partner in El Patron, a restaurant which recently opened on Julius Nyerere Avenue.
