Macuácua administrative post in Mandlakazi district, Gaza province, is today the stage for the district’s sixth Cashew Festival.
Taking place under the motto “Transforming Lives, Increasing Family Incomes”, the festival’s main attraction will be the exhibition of cashew and its derivatives (including nuts and juice).
According to a source from the Mandlakazi District Services for Economic Activities, an exhibition of agricultural products is also expected, as well as a gastronomy fair, handicrafts, and the sale of beef and goat meat.
A musical show is also planned, with the main figure on the bill being the musician Mabermuda, who will be joined by others to enliven the festival, returning after a hiatus due to Covid-19.
Organized by the district government of Mandlakazi, the festival will attract, in addition to locals, visitors from the neighbouring provinces of Maputo and Inhambane.
Mandlakazi district is the largest cashew producer in Gaza province, and is expected to sell around 60% of the 10,000 tonnes of cashew nuts foreseen under the current cashew marketing campaign.
