Police have arrested a man who beat a nine-year-old child to death in Bilene, Gaza province, southern Mozambique, a source told reporters on Thursday.
The case occurred on the afternoon of 11 November, when a group of children were playing on the patio of the man’s house, who had kicked them out.
As they fled, the nine-year-old child ran less than the others, stayed behind, and the man “beat her, leaving her lying on the street,” said Carlos Macuacua, head of Gaza police public relations.
“People passing by the scene recognised the child,” who was “abandoned, with abrasions and signs of aggression,” the spokesman said, adding that on arrival at a hospital “she was pronounced dead”.
“From investigations made from the other children she had been with, the suspect was reached,” he said.
The man, aged 28, is in custody, charged with murder, police advanced.
