Mozambique: Man sentenced to 33 years for child rape

The Province of Zambezia Judicial Court on Friday (18) sentenced a man to 33 years in prison for raping a 10-year-old child in Mocuba last year.
According to the sentencing speech, the perpetrator, a 32-year-old man, took advantage of the innocence of the minor and dragged her into the forest, where he perpetrated the crime, to the dismay of the entire district.
In addition to his 33-year prison term, the court also ordered the defendant to pay 200,000 meticais in compensation for the moral and traumatic damages caused to the victim and her family.
