AFCON 2025: Mozambique drawn in same group with African champions

Mozambique’s national football team rose two places in the latest FIFA World Ranking, announced on Thursday, with ‘The Mambas’ currently occupying 96th place with 1232.7 points.
Previously, Mozambique was in 98th place with 1229.01 points.
According to the update released by FIFA, the Mambas collected 3.69 points in the last FIFA Data of this month of November, in which they played the games of the fifth and sixth rounds of Group I qualifying for AFCON 2025, whose final phase will take place in Morocco.
In the matches in question, Chiquinho Conde’s team lost 0-1 at home to Mali, and went on to win 2-1 in Guinea-Bissau, qualifying for CAN-2025 with 11 points, three less than Mali (14), but with six and nine points more than Guinea-Bissau (5) and Eswatini (2), who failed to qualify.
