IMF wants to expand cooperation with Mozambique for economic stabilization

The Minister of Economy and Finance Adriano Maleiane has challenged officials at the Tax Authority of Mozambique (AT) to try and reduce the amount of human intervention in the management of tax processes, by prioritising simplification and computerisation.
Speaking in Maputo after swearing into office the newly appointed general directors and deputies, the minister acknowledged the work that AT has been doing to ensure the full functioning of the national economy, at a time when the country is struggling with adversities of various kinds, including Covid-19, a pandemic that is taking lives and attacking economies around the world.
But Maleiane also challenged the new recruits to discover synergies within the institution, and build alliances against corruption, an evil that undermines the revenue collection and the financing of public expenditure.
Officials newly sworn in include Augusto Paulo Tacarindua, for the post of director-general of the Tax Authority of Mozambique in the Office for Planning, Studies and International Cooperation.
Carlos Samuel Munguambe is the new director general of the Tax Authority of Mozambique in the Office of Internal Control, and Lurdes Inês Canjua Easterthe director-general of the Tax Authority of Mozambique in the Directorate-General for Taxation.
In the same ceremony, Inocêncio Pedro Mota was sworn in as the Deputy Director-General of the Tax Authority of Mozambique for the Operational area in the Directorate-General for Customs; Bernardo João Liberato Nhampossa, for the post of Deputy Director-General of the Tax Authority of Mozambique in the Directorate-General for Common Services; Sheila Cristina da Cunha Gonçalves, for the position of Deputy Director-General of the Tax Authority of Mozambique, in the Office of Planning, Studies and International Cooperation; and for the position of deputy director-general of the Tax Authority of Mozambique in the Internal Control Office, Davário Paulo Muthuque was sworn in.
