Malawi’s businesspeople decided to accept the invitation and come and see for themselves the services and facilities that the Port of Quelimane offers.
The Zambézia representative of the Mozambique Investment and Export Promotion Agency (APIEX), Maira Varela, said she hoped that the visit would be a success and boost traffic at the port.
The Port of Quelimane, with a capacity of up to 20,000 gross tonnage, receives container ships, general cargo ships, tankers and barges, with a maximum draft of 5.50 meters.
According to the authorities in Zambézia, Quelimane port is one of the closest port to Malawi, and could improve the logistics options of the landlocked country.
Malawi is also one of the largest users of Beira and Nacala ports for the import and export of various goods, especially fuel, fertilizers, tobacco and tea.
