The coastal district of Machanga in Sofala province intends to start exporting salt to some Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries this year.
Director of District Services for Economic Activities, ngelo Jone, told Notícias that technicians from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce had already visited the area to certify the salt for quality.
Noticias has also learned that the training of associations, community producers and traders is underway, with the beneficiaries considering the scheme an ideal opportunity to improve their living standards.
Export will be carried out by the National Association of Producers of Salt, after applying about a ton of iodine to the more than 25,000 tons of salt collected in the last campaign.
