The town of Mabote in Inhambane province is cut off following the flooding of the road fMapinhane/Mabote, road the only one between the district and the rest of the province.
National Roads Administration (ANE) provincial delegate Dady Mendes explained that, with the heavy rain falling in Inhambane as a result of Tropical Storm Freddy, the earth road accumulated standing water on its platform as well as to the sides, making circulation difficult for both vehicles and pedestrians.
The passage of vehicles on the Massinga-Funhalouro, Maxixe-Chicuque, Panda-Inharrime and Maluvane-Nova Mambone roads, the latter in Govuro, was also subject to restrictions, he reported.
Mendes says the rain has destroyed nearly 700 kilometres of roads across the province, further restricting communication.
