A solo exhibition by Lizzie Ana Uamusse entitled “Entre Mundos: Ecos do Cosmos e Fluxos Celestiais” opens at the Kulungwana Association Gallery, CFM Central Station, Maputo, this Thursday.
In a press release, the Kulungwana Association states that, through her paintings, Lizzie Ana, one of the promising voices of the new generation of Mozambican artists, invites art lovers to immerse themselves in a sensorial journey, where the visible and the invisible meet.
“Inspired by the cosmos, spirituality and dreams that manifest themselves between floating cities and ethereal landscapes, the artist constructs narratives of transition, exploration and connection. Between vibrant brushstrokes and moving textures, Between Worlds: Echoes of the Cosmos and Celestial Flows projects a vision of the future where the creation and reinvention of social relations are possible,” the text reads.
Referring to the exhibition, curator Jorge Dias highlights that Between Worlds: Echoes of the Cosmos and Celestial Flows can be understood as a path that Lizzie projects into the future to make the time to come an awakening for the desire to discover new universes, to dream and to find a reason for simplicity in the world. “It is up to us to find in these universes the freedom to build new worlds,” he says.
Lizzie Ana was born and raised in Maputo, and from an early age, she found a means of expression and discovery in art. Self-taught, her career has been marked by a continuous exploration of painting as a tool to cross visual and emotional boundaries. Her work reflects a deep interest in the cosmic imagination, mysticism and the relationship between landscape and identity.
With a sensitive eye and an innovative approach, Lizzie Ana has established herself as one of the most promising artists of the new generation, bringing a new language of visual and poetic narratives to the Mozambican artistic scene.
The exhibition, which will be on display at the Kulungwana Gallery until April 4, 2025, is an invitation to contemplation and travel, an opportunity to explore the freedom to build new worlds.
