This Friday is the last day to visit the exhibition “Abraçar o Caos” [Embracing the Chaos] by Butcheca. Camoes Cultural Centre, Maputo, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Don’t miss it!
“Abraçar o Caos” is Butcheca’s 15th solo exhibition, bringing together new works created during the current year.
Butcheca has been working in painting for around three decades, and has been reflecting on various current issues that concern him. According to the text written by the artist for this exhibition: “What appears to be a personal internal struggle becomes the evocation of a more universal reflection on the human condition, in the search for clarity and answers to the most diverse questions about the meaning of things.”
It is through unrealistic figuration that Butcheca seeks to respond to the concerns that haunt him in his daily life, in a systematic, comprehensive and exhaustive search for his essence.
