At 6:00 p.m. this Thursday, the collective exhibition Colecção Crescente 2021 will have opened, showcasing virtually until April 30th the works of more than 100 artists.
With the virtual exhibition, Kulungwana sustains what it considers one of the main events of Mozambique’s artistic life, now with a 10-year pedigree.
“Year by year, the number of local artists participating has increased, reflecting the enthusiasm with which this event is welcomed,” a Kulungwana press release reads.
“The awarding, by a jury of specialists, of the three best works – with the new Best Future Award, supported by sponsor Hollard Mozambique – has added even more dynamism to the event,” it adds.
The new collection has 323 pieces by 147 artists from eight provinces of the country. Kulungwana highlights the participation of women, who have become more visible with each edition.
“Since the beginning of the pandemic in March last year, Kulungwana has sought to remain in contact with its public, at the same time seeking to showcase the work of Mozambican artists. Therefore, for the second year running, we are holding virtual exhibition, hosted on both the Artfundi website and Kulungwana social media platforms.
This year’s Colecção Crescente’s theme is ‘The Future!’
Considering the current gloomy scenario, “the curator of the exhibition, Mieke Holdenburg, has developed a series of questions which lead us to reflect on the new global reality of 2045”, the Kulungwana press reveals.
