The owner of the customs clearance services company Empatel, who was admitted to intensive care in a private hospital after being freed by his kidnappers, was discharged from hospital this Monday morning.
Artur Magaia is recovering at home in Maputo after just over a month away from his family. Family sources say that the businessman has already started to receive visitors, in circumstances compliant with pandemic restrictions.
The businessman was released by his kidnappers after the payment of a ransom. Sources close to the case indicate that he began to feel ill while in captivity, and that his condition deteriorated rapidly.
Artur Magaia was kidnapped by armed men near his home in Boane’s Belo Horizonte neighbourhood in Maputo province as he was returning from work in the capital.
