A delegation from Katara Cultural Village Foundation in Doha, Qatar, led by its general manager, Khaled bin Ibrahim Al-Sulait, recently visited the Pedagogical University of Maputo (UP-Maputo) for the first time.
The delegation was received by the rector of UP-Maputo, Jorge Ferrão, accompanied by directors of the faculty and management of the higher education institution, and exchanged impressions with a view to establishing an exploratory diplomatic and cultural mission.
Later, the parties turned their attention to education and training, where mobility and short courses will be highlighted.
The Katara Cultural Village Foundation is a project of hope for human interaction through art and cultural exchange. It is also Qatar’s largest and most multi-dimensional cultural project, aiming to raise awareness of the meaning of various cultures and ethnicities, including that of Mozambique.
The delegation visited the Analytical Chemistry, Microscopy and Mechanics laboratories, and held meetings to discuss the possibility of formalising cooperation between both institutions.
In his address, Khaled bin Ibrahim Al-Sulait expressed interest in collaborating with UP-Maputo through the Katara Public Diplomacy Center, by developing activities in the area of social sciences and even providing opportunities for UP-Maputo professors to visit the Katara Foundation.
He also presented an invitation for the three best engineering students to undertake an internship at Katara.
For his part, Jorge Ferrão expressed great interest in establishing a partnership with the Katara Foundation, with UP-Maputo already having determined fundamental areas of engagement such as energy transition, digital transition, and internationalisation through partnerships with institutions in the Middle East.
