Mozambique: Notable shift in displacement dynamics, steady return of IDPs to their areas of origin

Mozambican journalist and writer Pedro Nacuo died in Nampula on Sunday, victim of illness.
Pedro Nacuo will be buried in Lalaua district, Nampula province, and his wake is scheduled for this afternoon, in the Salão Nobre of the Municipal Council of Nampula.
A note from the National Union of Journalists (SNJ), issued in solidarity with the family, notes that Pedro Buraimo Nacuo was a member of the National Council of the SNJ, and its representative on the Superior Council of Social Communication.
Editor of the political page of weekly newspaper Domingo, Pedro Buraimo Nacuo was born on April 6, 1962 in Ribaué, Nampula province, and joined ‘Noticias’ on February 1, 1991. He worked for Notícias in Nampula from 1990 to 1996, before being transferred to Cabo Delgado, where, in 1997, he founded the newspapers’ local delegation and worked for 18 years.
Pedro Nacuo was a member of the National Council of the National Union of Journalists since 1996.
Nacuo is the author of the books ‘Caso Montepuez’ – Grande Reportagem, published in 2001; ‘Boroma – Tribute to All Teachers’ (2006 and 2009); ‘Macua Holes – Contribution to Effective National Unity’ (2012) and co-authored ‘Enigmas around Commander Nan’tova’ (2014) and ‘Filipe Nyusi Revealed’.
Before becoming a journalist, Pedro Nacuo taught Geography in secondary education.
