Mozambican journalist and lawyer Jeremias Langa has parted company with the SOICO media group. The news was shared in a brief message to his closest friends and confirmed by him to CanalMoz on Friday, 21-01.
Jeremias Langa leaves the SOICO group, which owns STV, newspaper ‘O País’ and Rádio SFM, after 22 years, and the history of Mozambique’s most influential private television station is intertwined with his own. He joined as a reporter and left as executive director, having over the years held almost all positions in between, with the exception of Chairman of the Board of Directors.
“It has been almost 22 exciting years, in which I have actively contributed to building, more than just a media group, a platform that has helped to deepen the space for debate and democratic freedoms in the country. I am deeply proud of the path taken, and of what the SOICO Group represents today in the national and perhaps international media space and, above all, for its tutelary role in the media boom that we are witnessing today in the country,” Langa wrote in a note shared with his circle.
Langa, one of Mozambique’s best-known journalists, left Grupo Soico on friendly terms, and is intent on embracing new projects. But for now, we learned, the possibility of his joining another currently existing channel is out of the question.
