Mozambique ranks 182nd, five other CPLP countries rise in Human Development Index

On Friday, 10 October 2025, at 10:10 a.m., the Signing Ceremony of the Grant Agreements for the following projects will take place at the Embassy of Japan in Maputo, located at Av. Julius Nyerere No. 2832.
Rehabilitation of the Fisheries School Workshop in the City of Matola, Maputo Province
This project will be implemented by the Fisheries School and is valued at USD 47,500 (forty-seven thousand five hundred US dollars).
Its objective is to improve the quality of education and internship conditions and to contribute to the training of human resources in the fisheries sector. The Fisheries School expects to benefit more than 180 trainees annually, contributing significantly to the quality of training.
Construction of a Leprosy Ward at Alto Molócuè District Hospital, Zambézia Province
This project will be implemented by the Leprosy Mission Mozambique and is valued at USD 50,000 (fifty thousand US dollars).
Its objective is to improve the provision of services for leprosy, tuberculosis, and other neglected tropical diseases for the population of Alto Molócuè District. The Health Centre aims to benefit approximately 410,000 inhabitants of the district, who will have improved access to medical consultations, a treatment room, and inpatient care.
The ceremony will be attended by H.E. HAMADA Keiji, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mozambique, along with other guests, including:
For the Fisheries School: Ms Estela Chichava Julião Maússe, Director of the Fisheries School.
For Alto Molocué District Hospital: Mr Pedro Safrão, National Director of the Leprosy Mission Mozambique.
A press conference will follow at the end of the ceremony.
