Ivone Soares confirmed this Tuesday that she will be a candidate in the internal Renamo party elections at the congress taking place on May 15 and 16 in Zambézia.
The 44-year-old Assembly of the Republic deputy is the niece of the party’s historic leader, Afonso Dhlakama, whose brother, Elias Dhlakama, will also run for the position.
A former head of the Renamo bench in parliament, Soares holds a degree in Communication Sciences, and is studying for a PhD in Political Science and International Relations.
Elias Dhlakama is also a Renamo deputy in parliament, and a senior member of the party.
Just today (07-05), Renamo received the candidacy of Alfredo Magumisse, a deputy in the Assembly of the Republic and member of the party’s Political Commission.
Deputy Venâncio Mondlane and former Renamo party secretary general André Magibiri are also in the race.
