Under the motto “Nikah as a Means of Lawful Union and Lawful Children”, the Islamic Union of Zambézia (UNIZA) recently held a collective wedding ceremony for 21 couples, in an event attended by the Secretary of State for the Province and other prominent figures.
The president of the Islamic Union of Zambézia, Aboobacar Cassimo, explained that the collective marriage initiative aimed to demonstrate that it was possible to get married without having abundant resources, as long as you have God’s permission.
Muslim preacher Úmar Aiuba delivered a message highlighting that no union is truly strong without a connection with God, and emphasising the importance of establishing this connection with the Creator.
In turn, the Secretary of State in Zambézia, Cristina Mafumo, highlighted that one of the objectives of collective marriages was to promote the recovery of social and moral values in society, adding that the strength of the family was fundamental to peace within society.
Mafumo also reinforced the idea that marriages need God’s support to grow and flourish.
