The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) will audit safety in Mozambique by December this year to check compliance with international treaties on maritime safety, Mozambican Transport and Communications Minister Carlos Mesquita said.
Carlos Mesquita, quoted by Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias on Tuesday, said IMO experts will assess safety in shipping, in the country’s ports and at sea crossing points.
“The IMO will help the whole of the country and the consequences of this work will affect all stakeholders in this field,” said Mesquita.
Mozambique, the minister said, has made progress in implementing measures to promote maritime safety, especially at national ports.
