Mozambique: Seven killed by terrorists in two districts - AIM report

Insurgents attacked Darumba village, 20 km from the Mucojo Administrative Post headquarters village, in Macomia district, at around 7:00 p.m. last Saturday night, resulting in the deaths of six people and injury to one. As always, dozens of houses were burned down, ‘Carta de Moçambique’ reports.
Sources told ‘Carta’ that the insurgents also burned two boats which were used to ferry people and goods to the islands of Ibo and Matemo and the city of Pemba.
Last Thursday, the insurgents attacked the village of Goludo, also in the Mucojo Administrative Post.
The population of Darumba lives on agriculture, fishing and the proceeds of small business. Their lives were recently registering something of an improvement as a results of the Revolving Savings and Credit Programme [ Programa de Poupança e Crédito Rotativo] implemented by the government and partners.
Reports of FDS torturing civilians in Palma
Thirty fishermen from Quiwia village, Palma district, were reportedly maltreated by Defence and Security Force personnel last Friday. According to ‘Carta’ sources, the fishermen, who had just returned from fishing, had their cell phones and part of their catch confiscated.
