The National Institute of Cultural and Creative Industries (INICC) says that allegations of the existence of a levy for filming wedding parties or private events are unfounded.
Postings on social media over the past week have suggested the existence of a new levy payable for filming such occasions, but the INICC says people are misinterpreting the law, and on Wednesday issued a press release categorically denying the rumour.
In addition, the INICC reaffirmed that the exercise of its audio-visual and cinematographic oversight continues to be based on the provisions of the legislation approved in 2017, that is, Law number 1/2017 of January 6th and its respective Regulation approved by Decree 41/2017, of August 4th, which focuses on those who want to carry out the activity of production, distribution and exhibition in a professional manner.
Furthermore, the communiqué says, all those interested in information or clarification on this matter should contact the INICC in Maputo or its Central and Northern regional delegations.
