Year-on-year inflation in Mozambique slowed in April to the lowest level in 12 months, according to the most recent data released today by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
Inflation returned to single digits, standing at 9.61% in April, 1.22 percentage points less than in March.
Some food products became cheaper, such as corn in grain, cooking oil, coconut, lettuce and chicken, as well as other products, such as motorbikes and televisions, INE pointed out in the Consumer Price Index (IPC) bulletin.
Adding up the monthly values, the accounts for the first four months of the year ended with an accumulated inflation of 3.58%.
The IPC bulletin collects data for calculating inflation in eight Mozambican cities: Maputo, Beira, Nampula, Quelimane, Tete, Chimoio, Xai-xai and Inhambane.
