The National Statistics Institute (INE) in Mozambique is placing signs with demographic information on the borders of all Mozambican provinces, the institution announced yesterday.
“The signs will be placed, in a first phase, on the territorial limits between the provinces, along the main national roads”, Eliza Magaua said during the unveiling of the first sign on the National Road Number 4 in Maputo province.
In addition to the roads, the signs will be placed at some land and air border points, namely Ressano Garcia, Machipanda, Mandimba, Rovuma, Moatize (Zóbwe) and Maputo International Airport, according to the president of the INE.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, United Nations Population Fund representative Andrea Wojnar said that the UNFPA would continue to support the production of statistical information, highlighting its importance for development plans.
“The INE can continue to count on the support of partners to complete the remaining tasks of the 2017 population census. We also recognise the cooperation of others, such as the World Bank and the European Union, among others,” Wojnar said.
