The National Institute of Communications of Mozambique (INCM) on Thursday (29-06) unveiled plans to open a Risk Central to combat mobile phone financial scams.
Speaking at a seminar in Tete, the director of Communications and Statistics at the INCM, Massingue Pala, said that the measure would primarily act to detect the technological means used to defraud mobile phone customers.
“Electronic theft actions are a matter of concern for the government, which is why the INCM will start penalising companies which fail to comply with the decree concerning the registration of numbers,” Pala added.
The INCM seminar was attended by representatives of mobile phone companies, academics, businesspeople, students and other guests.
