The National Maritime Institute (INAMAR) is trying to stop the takeover of the coastline in the province of Cabo Delgado by leisure facilities, O País reports.
According to the province’s maritime administrator, Aurélio Sadiana, some of these cases are already in court.
The situation is considered critical in Mocímboa da Praia and in Pemba Bay.
In addition to new occupiers, the National Maritime Institute is concerned about the existence of many structures with expired titles using maritime space privately.
Most of the buildings on the coastline of Cabo Delgado are for leisure purposes and, in addition to putting the preservation of the environment at risk, are limiting citizens’ access to the province’s beaches.
