The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) is warning that a low pressure atmospheric system has formed in the southwestern basin of the Indian Ocean, northeast of the island of Madagascar, which could by March 7 on develop into a tropical depression close to the coast of that island country.
A statement from INAM seen by AIM informs that, according to projections, the meteorological system has the potential to traverse the Island of Madagascar and enter the Mozambique Channel from March 9th onwards.
The note from the meteorological institution however assures that the system does not yet
pose a danger to Mozambique. Meanwhile, INAM continues to monitor its evolution, appealing to Mozambicans to remain attuned to meteorological information and warnings disseminated by the competent national authorities.
