The National Inspectorate of Economic Activities (INAE) in Niassa has ordered economic agents in the province to lower the price of construction cement.
In recent weeks, a fifty-kilogram bag of cement has come to cost as much as 750.00 meticais, an amount considered much higher than that recommended, leading INAE to order its reduction to 680.00 meticais.
INAE Niassa provincial delegate Arina Cauaneque said that her institution was urging economic agents dedicated to the trade of construction materials, including cement, to sell the product responsibly, respecting the maximum profit margin provided for by law.
She warned that any reintroduction of speculative pricing in cement would call down administrative proceedings, specifically fines and criminal proceedings for disobedience.
