A National Inspection of Economic Activities (INAE) has detected 224 private schools nationwide using free distribution books at a time when these materials are not yet available in public education.
Tomás Timba, spokesperson for the INAE, explains that inspection teams are obligated to collect from private schools all improperly received books to be reallocated to the public sector.
The INAE spokesperson details that, exacerbating the situation, private schools are selling the books to parents and guardians, which contradicts the norm that this teaching material is for free distribution.
Regarding the allocation of free distribution books to public schools, it is worth noting that the government stated this week that everything is being done to ensure that this material reaches primary school children as quickly as possible.
“It is true that these textbooks should have been in schools well before the start of the current academic year/2024, but adverse factors contributed to this not happening. Annually, we refine the issue of printing and allocation of school books,” said Filimão Suaze, government spokesperson.
