Between March 31 and April 11, the National Inspection of Economic Activities (INAE) closed a total of 60 gyms for violating State of Public Calamity measures.
According to INAE spokesman Veronio Duvane, operating a gym is a violation of Decree no. 17/2021, of April 6, which explicitly prohibits the opening of gyms as potential hotbeds of coronavirus infection.
In its communication, INAE says it is concerned with the attitude of gym owners, several gyms having been found to be operating illegally.
In addition to gyms, the INAE says it has also found kindergartens that have resumed activities although not yet authorised to do so. Cases were registered in the provinces of Maputo and Tete.
