Mozambique: In experimental phase, Maputo/Temane electricity transmission line

The operation of the electricity transmission line between Maputo and Temane, covering a distance of approximately 580 kilometers, is in the experimental phase.
The action takes place after the completion in December of last year of the construction process of the electricity transmission line and subsequent energization.
The energization of the line began with four hundred kilovolts from the Maputo sub-station and gradually reached the Matola/Matalana section and consequently from Matalana to Chibuto.
Project manager Adriano Jonas explains that this phase will allow the evaluation of the system’s functioning for subsequent stages. The electricity transmission project between Temane and Maputo is expected to enter commercial operation in the first half of 2026.
