Immigration authorities in Maputo Province have strengthened their capacity to manage the high traffic at border posts during the festive season.
Over the weekend alone, more than 21,000 people crossed the province’s borders, with the Ressano Garcia post—the country’s largest—recording the highest movement.
Carmen Mavenga, spokesperson for Immigration in Maputo Province, shared this information and anticipated an increase in border crossings as Family Day approaches.
Mavenga assured that despite the growing demand, particularly at Ressano Garcia, operations are running smoothly. She attributed this to preemptive measures taken to ease the flow of travelers during the holiday season.
Given the high demands placed on immigration officers to handle the influx, Mavenga called for travelers’ cooperation to ensure smooth border crossings.
