On Tuesday, the National Inspectorate of Economic Activities (INAE) closed an illegal Chinese-owned aluminium processing factory in Chicumbane, Limpopo district, Gaza province.
The factory had been operating illegally just a few metres from National Highway Number 1 (N1), in Chicumbane, Limpopo district, for two years.
The factory had no documentation and operated in a reportedly “discreet” location, although cutting-edge aluminium processing machines were found on site.
There are several offences concerning the establishment pending, including a failed attempt to prevent the closure of the establishment.
The company says it does not acknowledge the alleged irregularities, and that it will appeal to higher authorities.
The question that remains is: Who would have authorised the company to operate in Chicumbane?
