An employee of Nampula Central Hospital was fired this year, accused of involvement in a ‘blood for money’ scheme at the health unit.
The information was provided on Thursday by the President of the Blood Committee at Nampula Central Hospital, Dinis Dias, during celebrations of Mozambique’s National Blood Donor Day.
Dias also said, cited by Radio Mozambique, that the main instigators of this blood sales phenomenon are often the relatives of patients admitted to hospital there.
Dias urged people not to get involved in such schemes, and took the opportunity to make a strong appeal for people of good will to continue donating blood to save human lives.
