Mozambique: Fishermen detained in Ancuabe for alleged involvement in terrorism - AIM
The Mozambique National Immigration Service (Senami) has arrested seven people, including two police officers, on suspicion of fraud and illegal handling of passport applications since January, the agency has said.
Three of the seven solicited clients at the door of the agency, news agency Lusa learnt from Senami yesterday.
Among the suspects are two Senami officials, two Republic of Mozambique (PRM) police officers and three civilians.
In the case of the Senami officials and PRM agents, disciplinary and criminal proceedings for unlawful collection of travel documents and passports have already been opened.
There were also situations where, despite promising to handle the processing of passport applications, suspects did not do so after receiving amounts agreed with clients.
