The Mozambican government has thanked Spain for its assistance in the fight against terrorism in Cabo Delgado, materialised through humanitarian assistance, as well as for Spain’s contribution to the European Union Military Training Mission (EUTM Moz).
Mozambique’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Verónica Macamo, met Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares yesterday.
At the meeting at the Viana Palace in the Spanish capital, Macamo and Albares discussed cooperation in the areas of health, fisheries, tourism, culture and the promotion of the Spanish language in Mozambique.
Both ministers reviewed the actions carried out under the Framework Cooperation Programme between the two countries for 2020-2024, budgeted at €47 million, focusing on the areas of development, humanitarian assistance and peace and security.
The two leaders also considered the proposal to hold the 9th session of the Mozambique-Spain Joint Commission, in November 2024 in Maputo, with a view to evaluating the Framework Cooperation Programme for 2020-2024 and planning cooperation actions for the 2025-29 four-year period.
