Mozambique: The climb of Incomáti threatens to cut the N1

Heavy rainfall in the Maputo region since Wednesday has disrupted the lives of around 14,000 people and displaced 180 families, according to an official report released on Friday by the authorities in the country, who also say four people have died in flooding.
Most of the people affected live in the capital and surrounding areas, according to the National Institute for Disaster Management (INGD).
It said indicate that the rising waters have destroyed eight houses and flooded around 2,800 homes, as well as damaging 13 schools, 18 access roads and five healthcare units.
The INGD also said that 15 people were trapped by floods in Maputo province.
Following the storm three temporary accommodation centres were set up, where 180 people are staying.
Floods are a recurrent event at this time of year in Mozambique, which is in the middle of the rainy season, but rainfall has even so been higher than expected.
Since Wednesday, cumulative rainfall has exceeded 170 millimetres, which is more than the average estimated for the whole month of February in the capital and surrounding region, according to the Mozambican National Meteorology Institute (INAM).
Forecasts point to continued heavy rains until Sunday.
