- Sala da Paz reports that one student has been arrested this morning and that “Adriano Nuvunga went to the 7th PRM Police Station in the City of Maputo, together with two lawyers, in an attempt to free young student Valdo Nhamoneque, who was detained while protesting against the approval of the law that grants perks to officials and parliamentary agents “.

A group of students from Eduardo Mondlane University gathered today at Independence Square in the capital, Maputo, and from there started to march to parliament in protest at the perks for parliamentary agents and officials recently approved by the Assembly of the Republic, O País reports..
The march, which started peacefully, became violent when heavily armed police intervened, on the grounds that the march was not authorised.
Despite the strong police contingent, including the canine force, the students continued their progress towards the Assembly of the Republic in a dispersed manner, and without chants or banners.
