Mozambique registered a deficit of US$116.46 million in trade with the Chinese province of Jiangsu in 2015, Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias reported in its Thursday edition.
Citing data from the Commerce Department of that province of China, the paper said that last year Mozambique sold products worth US$46.73 million to Jiangsu, and imported goods worth US$163.19 million.
Mozambique’s exports to Jiangsu in 2015 fell 20.8 percent while imports from that Chinese province experienced an increase of 39.4 percent.
In this period, Mozambique exported to Jiangsu logs, wood products, vegetable products and raw materials for the textile industry and mainly imported machinery, mechanical appliances and accessories for vehicles.
Noticias also reported that in addition to trade relations, Jiangsu province has supported Mozambique in the public health sector by sending medical teams and providing healthcare assistance as part of a programme that also covers other African countries.
Jiangsu is a coastal province of China located north of Shanghai, and its capital city is Nanjing.
