MozYouth Foundation on Tuesday celebrated the Graduation Ceremony of interns from the Pre-Professional Paid Internship Program, funded by the Mozambique LNG Project, operated by TotalEnergies EP Mozambique Area 1 Limited. The event, held in the city of Pemba, highlighted the achievements of over 104 interns from several Cabo Delgado districts, including Pemba, Montepuez, Palma, Balama, Chiúre and Mocímboa da Praia.
During the ceremony, Valige Tauabo, Governor of Cabo Delgado, emphasized:
“We want to begin our interaction by highlighting our recognition of the graduates’ efforts, for having successfully and exemplary completed their pre-professional internships. In the first year, in 2022, we graduated 51 interns. Today, in 2024, we have doubled this number, thanks to the efforts of the government and its partners.”
Pedro Santos, General Director of MozYouth Foundation, highlighted:
“At MozYouth, we believe that the greatest wealth of Mozambique is its youth, and to take advantage of this enormous wealth, we need to give them hope, show them that effort pays off, and demonstrate that opportunities exist… Today, we have over 20,000 young people registered on our platform looking for internships. We would like to offer internships to all of them, but unfortunately, we rely on external support to achieve this. In Cabo Delgado, we have placed over 250 (more than half) in 9 districts and 53 companies. These results would not have been possible without the support of several institutions, but I would like to specifically acknowledge two indispensable partners for what we are celebrating today: the unwavering support from the government, through Mr. Valige Tauabo, Governor of Cabo Delgado, and TotalEnergies, which has supported 500 internships.”
Simão Muhoro, Vice President of Social Performance at TotalEnergies EP Mozambique Area 1 Limited, operator of the Mozambique LNG Project, stated:
“Our contribution to the professional internship program for young Mozambicans is part of the implementation of our local content strategy and reflects our strong commitment to contributing to the sustainable development of the country in general and of Cabo Delgado in particular.
“Through the CapacitaMoz platform, the Mozambique LNG Project, in line with the National Local Content Program established by the Government of Mozambique, will continue to contribute to the training and empowerment of young Mozambicans in various areas, thus contributing to their active participation in the process of inclusive economic growth in Mozambique.”
Since its launch in March 2024, the Pre-Professional Paid Internship Program has promoted the professional development of more than 250 young Mozambicans in Cabo Delgado Province. This program reflects the commitment of the MozYouth Foundation and the Mozambique LNG Project to empower youth with practical skills and professional experience, promoting their sustainable integration into the labor market.
