Face-to-face Grade 7 classes have not resumed in Niassa province as a result of the lack of hygiene conditions and Covid-19 protective material in any of the 497 primary schools in the province, Radio Mozambique reports.
More than 24,900 Grade 7 students in public and community schools in Niassa are waiting for the resumption of face-to-face classes in educational establishments which require confirmation of satisfactory conditions by the certification committee.
Provincial Director of Education in Niassa, Valente Farahane, says that the lack of piped water, latrines and protective materials are the main hurdles to the resumption of seventh class classes.
However, 106 of the primary schools that teach Grade 7 will be able to restart classes in the next few days following health protocol certification reports.
