The Mozambican government expects this month to receive a positive response from the World Bank regarding the availability of around US$400 million to finance the rehabilitation of National Road Number 1 (EN1), due to start in the second half of next year.
Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Carlos Mesquita, underlined that while awaiting funding, immediate actions to improve transitability in critical sections were being defined.
Speaking this Monday on Radio Mozambique’s ‘Cartas na Mesa’ programme, Minister Mesquita clarified that emergency interventions would take place on the road’s Phambara/Muxúnguè, Inchope/Caia and Chimuara/Nicoadala sections.
