Mozambique: Defence Minister demands concrete proposals for the sector

The Council of Ministers yesterday approved a decree redefining the duties of the National Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (INTIC), and giving it regulatory standing in the area.
“The INTIC will regulate and supervise transactions, commerce and e-government. It will be responsible for the management of the .mz domain on the Internet, and propose to the Government the terms of creation and implementation of Mozambique’s Digital Certification System,” the final communiqué states.
A new National Institute of Electronic Governance (INAGE) was also created, as an “electronic government service delivery entity” with the task of creating “an electronic communication platform of the Government for all of the State entities”.
INAGE will decide on the “approval of development projects, procurement of information systems equipment” and related services.
