The Ministry of Transport and Communications has banned the movement of trucks transporting ore on National Highway Number Four (N4) at rush hour, a measure that aims to prioritise road safety and reduce traffic on the section.
The ministerial decree recently made public indicates that the ban applies, above all, to the Tchumene and Malhampsene section, between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on weekdays.
In parallel with this decision, measures have been introduced to manage the traffic of trucks transporting minerals from the ports of Maputo and Matola between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., while exempting vehicles carrying fuel and perishable products.
To raise awareness and monitor implementation, a team has been created comprising personnel from the National Directorate of Transport, the National Institute of Road Transport (INATRO) and the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM).
